Instrumental Music Program
Instrumental
Music is an extension program for students enrolled in years 3 to 6.
Instrumental Music Teachers teach lessons in percussion, strings, woodwind and
brass instruments. The main objectives of this program are to afford students
the opportunity to participate in a group music performance situation and
develop skills on their selected instrument. Students who participate in the
instrumental program attend two half-hour lessons a week. One is a small group
lesson in school time and the other is an ensemble rehearsal in their own time
(e.g. lunch time/before school). Ensembles perform at various functions
and events throughout the year.
Instrumental
tuition is free although a levy is paid to support the program. Some
instruments are available for loan from the school. Strings commences in Year
Three and Band (Woodwind, Brass and Percussion) commences in Year Four.
Students are selected for the program at the end of the year before.
Students
who have previously learned an instrument at another school should speak to
their Music teacher about joining the program.
